The Glass Dryad

A tree witch, the Glass Dryad's true name has been lost to time. She is notorious throughout the Faerie Vale as a dark sage who helps both villain and hero for the right price. But she rarely barters in coin, instead demanding anything from trash or shiny trinket to whatever you treasure most. She stores her trade goods in glass witch balls suspended from the branches of her head. A "shady lady," her power is so great that not even the Faerie Queen Calypso dares challenge her dealings.

The song in the book trailer belongs to the Glass Dryad. These are her lyrics:

“Who will buy my baubles fair
Made of glass and stillborn air?
What will you trade to cheat death?
I can sell you life’s lost breath.
Why tremble at trinkets I bid you pay?
Worse pain lies in throwing heart away.
Don’t let your true wish fade and fall
Pay my price to heed dream’s call.
Beware; be you bold, lovely or clever—
Happy endings I promise, never.”

Calico

Species: Variable
Height: Also Variable
Magic: Unreliable
Charm: Undeniable

A feline shape shifter descended from the famous Puss n' Boots, Calico has always known what was expected of him in life. All members of the House of Feles are given one magical article of clothing on their 15th birthday and sent out into the Mortal Vale to help worthy humans to their happily ever afters.

While the magic turban he inherits is spun with gold threads and set with a magnificent jasper stone, its once marvelous powers have frayed with age. Calico sets out on his family's time-honored quest but soon learns that the Mortal Vale is no place for iffy magic . . . .

Evening Primrose Goodwing

Prim is the only fairy with a living birthstar. Tradition demands that a star fall and die the hour a fairy is born, but hers refused to burn away. She keeps her shame secret in a glass locket, but nothing can hide her failure as a Goodwing. The illustrious Goodwing line of godmothers has turned guttersnipes into sultans and milkmaids into princesses for generations.

Yet Prim has never been able to conjure a true glamouronly weakling "ephemera," magic that evaporates at midnight. But she isn't ready to surrender her dream of becoming a fairy godmother just yet! Not even if the penalty for impersonating a fairy godmother is having her magic stripped and spending 100 years in a pond as a guppy.

Not even if her dream means losing her wings

And taking on a human form . . . .

Iffy Magic Cover Reveal!

Salutations, World!

I am very excited to bring Iffy Magic: Confessions of a Faux Fairy Godmother to life on August 9th, 2016. Starting with a sneak peek at the fabulous cover art by Audrey Bagley at Sealoch Studio

Everybody knows the Cinderella story, but no one knows the lie. There never was a fairy godmother, just Primrose Goodwing: a pixie whose magic always comes undone at midnight. Prim has just become the only Goodwing—ever—to fail her fairy godmother test. But she’s not ready to give up her wand yet. Trading her wings to smuggle herself into the Mortal Vale, Prim dreams of proving her worth by whipping up a happily-ever-after for a human venture in the quaint kingdom of Lindonberg.

Too bad Ember, the headstrong girl she picks, has her own ideas about happy endings that don’t involve the traditional castle and crown. Worse, Prim finds her heart torn by the wily shape shifter Calico, a descendant of Puss n’ Boots who hides a dark secret behind his spite for humans. All Prim’s schemes unravel when she discovers that “perfect” little Lindonberg is entangled in a web of intrigue and spells that threatens to annihilate every kingdom in the Mortal Vale.

Will her first fairy tale become her last? In a charming mix reminiscent of the beloved Ella Enchanted, S. E. Page’s Iffy Magic is the true tale of the pixie behind the girl with the glass slippers!

*Stay tuned for more sneak peeks into the story, including an animated book trailer, character interviews and a wanted poster for the renegade fairy Primrose Goodwing.
